Is it just me or do cat cafes seem to be popping up everywhere these days? Not that I am complaining, I will take any opportunity to get kitty cuddles! During my trip up to Aberdeen last weekend we made a booking at the Cat in the Window Cafe. Both Cecilia and I love cats so this was a real treat and although we didn’t know what to expect it turned out to be a really enjoyable experience.
We booked out place at the cat cafe a couple of months ago and although they do have some slots available for walk in customers it is better to book in advance. They only allow so many people in the cafe at once which makes the whole experience better for both the cats and the cat lovers! There is a cover charge of £5.50 per person and you get an hour long slot at the cafe which isn’t too bad in my opinion. When we arrived, all of us were given a quick induction telling what we couldn’t do i.e. chase the cats round the room or pick them up. We were also warned about Zeus (pictured above) who apparently in renowned for trying to steal people’s hot chocolate despite his intolerance for it! He is my favourite of all the cats though, I mean just look at those blue eyes! He is so handsome and he definitely knows it!
We soon got settled in and the staff came round taking our food orders. The cafe has a small menu of baked goods such as scones and cakes and they offer a selection of hot drinks. Both of us had scones and Cecilia had a hot chocolate while I had a flat white. To be honest, I was so busy taking photo’s of the cats that I nearly forgot to drink my coffee! The cost of food and drinks isn’t included in the entry fee but everything on the menu is reasonably priced.
As well as all the cute kitties the decor in the cafe was really pretty too, it felt both spacious and cosy at the same time, and it sort of felt like being in someone’s living room. There were lots of toys and little hiding places for the cats and the tables were spaced quite far away from each other so I never felt like I was invading the space of the other customers when I was wandering about taking photos!
I loved meeting all the cats, they only have nine on the premises at any one time and we saw about six of them I think. They are all equally cute in there own way and I love how different all their personalities are. Can we also just take a moment to look at how cute the cat in the last two photos is. His name is Napoleon which totally suits his personality, he was a proper show off although it did take a lot of effort and failed attempts to get him to pose for the camera.
Overall our experience at the Cat in the Window cafe was excellent and the hour went by super quickly, we had so much fun and it was great to meet all of the cute cats there. I would definitely recommend going if you are in the Aberdeen area and it has definitely made me want to head to more cat cafes! Have you been to a cat cafe before? Let me know below!
Please note this IS NOT a sponsored post. I just really liked the cat cafe!
