It’s that time of year again where I tell you all about my travel plans for the next twelve months! 2017 was an amazing year for travel, I visited five countries and loved all of them. I also visited all the places that I set out to at the beginning of 2017, which I am really pleased about. I am very much enjoying taking little trips all over Europe as I really haven’t seen enough of it. I still have a desire to take a massive trip – maybe to South America – at some point but I am also pretty settled and like coming back home after each holiday. I am hoping 2018 will be just as awesome as 2017 on the travel front and I can’t wait to start exploring! So enough of my rambling, here are my 2018 travel plans!
I booked this a while ago because I found super cheap flights and we all know how I love a bargain! I am only going for the weekend at the end of this month but I am really looking forward to it. Gdansk was never a city that was on my radar but after doing a bit of searching on the old tinterweb it looks really pretty. Also, I really want to visit more of Eastern Europe this year and figured Poland was a good place to start!
Another weekend trip, this time in February. Once again, I found really cheap flights so I couldn’t help myself. I have never been to Ireland before even though it’s practically on my doorstep. I am excited to explore this city as I only ever hear good things about it and of course I will be trying some Guinness! I am not sure a weekend will be long enough to see and do everything but I can always go back if needs be.
So last year I was most excited about visiting Bosnia (which didn’t disappoint!) and this year the place I am most looking forward about visiting is Kiev. This trip hasn’t quite been booked yet but I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen if I can find cheap enough flights, hopefully over Easter. Basically, I met a girl in Ljubljana who had been and said it was awesome and since then it’s been stuck in my head and I basically have to go! Despite the fact I am super excited to go, I don’t have much in the way of expectations about this city which usually works out to be a good thing.
Oslo & Halden, Norway
My best friend Cecilia is going to be in Halden in May so I am hopefully going to visit her there and spend a few days in Oslo too. Again, this all depends if I can find decent flights which is proving very tricky but I am sure I will find a way to do this. The only thing I am apprehensive about with this trip is the cost once I am there but as I am really all about budget travel this year but hopefully I will be able to make this happen.
We all know how much I loved visiting Bosnia last year so this year I have decided I want to see more of the Balkans. Me and my friend are currently in the process of planning a two week trip in September. I really want to visit Serbia and see more of Croatia and I wouldn’t mind fitting Albania in too! I will definitely keep you posted about this and it the one trip I am most excited about planning.
Obviously I will be going somewhere over Christmas but I will decide on that nearer the time, I am very tempted to go back to Slovenia again as I absolutely loved it and in my opinion makes the perfect festive getaway! On top of that I am trying to visit a total of TWELVE countries this year! I don’t know if this will be possible because I have a lot of life stuff going on at the moment such as sorting a mortgage out so I don’t want to commit to that just yet but I certainly want to visit at least eight countries which I think is entirely possible!
